First Baptist Church rejects all forms of Calvinism. We reject the idea that before a person can get saved, he or she must be “born again,” by a sovereign act of God; as is believed and taught by Calvinists.
Salvation is for all who will accept by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. (Scripture: Ephesians 2: 8, 9).
John Calvin, the father of Calvinism, was misguided in his view of election. He ordered the imprisonment, torture, and even execution of those who dared to disagree with him over election and infant baptism. He was a violent man, and a heretic, whose behavior should not be dismissed by modern day Calvinists.
